Just days after Google took down some posts from Linda ikeji’s blog for violating intellectual property rights, today the blog has been removed from its known address, lindaikeji.blogspot.com. A visit to the address displays just this message:
Blog has been removed
Sorry, the blog at lindaikeji.blogspot.com has been removed. This address is not available for new blogs.
Did you expect to see your blog here? See: ‘I can’t find my blog on the web, where is it?’
We also checked lindaikejionline.com and lindaikeji.net, but the blog is not currently available at those web locations either. Is this a publicity stunt, in which case the blog will pop up at a new location shortly, or is this really the result of Google acting on claims filed against the popular blog?
Linda is big enough to relaunch her blog within 24 hours, and so we expect that this is not the end. Hopefully though, this is a lesson for everyone in intellectual property rights. Lifting other people’s content is not cool. Hopefully, this will usher in a new dispensation to blogging in Nigeria.
We watch. We wait. Expect updates.
