News today: Ifa Festival, Militants surrender, OLIC3

NIGER DELTA MILITANTS SURRENDER

Hello folks; did you remember when the President called for the Niger Delta militants to lay down their arms? It appears like they have acceped his offer. This happened yesterday after a meeting by the various militant groups. This was under the auspices of the Coalition of Niger Delta Groups. I’m glad that the militants have chosen to listen to reason this time.  However, I’m afraid of what might happen if they don’t reach a reasonable agreement with the Government. They sure don’t seem like the kind of people that would surrender, therefore. . .

IFA FESTIVAL HOLDS AT SANGO-OTA

In the meantime, the Ifa festival held recently. By all accounts, it was a fun-filled show. There were colorful costumes and all sorts of traditional stunts and rituals. Sango-Ota surely had a swell time with the Ifa festival. Furthermore, the dignitaries involved include the President of Ifa Olokun Foundation and Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi. They also called for a public holiday during the festival. Well, I think it’s fair enough. Christians and Muslims get their public holidays during their festivals. Why shouldn’t they get theirs?

CALABAR CHRISTMAS VILLAGE GETS 53,000 CONDOMS

Meanwhile, the Calabar Christmas Village received a very useful present for Christmas. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) distributed over 53,000 condoms at the CCV. This is coming under the auspices of the Wise-Up Cross River campaign. These dudes aim to reduce HIV/AIDS prevalence in the state. Well, someone knows what’s up, obviously. Also, that someone really wants people to stay protected this Christmas. That’s a pretty awesome Christmas sentiment, if you ask me.

OLIC3 SHUTS DOWN LAGOS

Popular Nigerian rapper Olamide has done it yet again. The Olamide Live in Concert, tagged OLIC3 was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites yesterday. And boy did it shut down the place. Well, it not like we weren’t expecting it to do anything less than that. The tickets to the event sold out in 24 hours. Various dignitaries and celebrities were in attendance. These include the governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode. That was one heck of a show, guys. I hope you were there. Dude sure knows how to put on a show.
