A lot of things happen every day that we do not see. Some of these interesting events, sadly enough, would actually make one’s day, if only we could have seen them for ourselves. We Nigerians have enough on our minds, so it’s easy to miss a lot of things. However, it is equally easy to find out all of these things. Yay, internet!
In the world of footall, these interesting events happen too. Some of them are quite ridiculous, as you will see soon. Others are just so damn funny. Some other interesting events are, well, interesting.
- In 2005, during a match between Chelsea and Liverpool, midfielder Luis Garcia scored a controversial goal. No one could tell if the ball had crossed the line; that was before goal-line tech. however, the referee let the goal stand. Obviously, this gave Jose Mourinho, then at Chelsea, a heart attack. Luis Garcia decided to recreate that “ghost goal” yesterday. His Halloween costume was a ghost with a ball on the goal line. Hilarious, isn’t it?
- Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has declared that he is not interested in the Ballon d’Or. WHAT? This is an award that every footballer goes to bed and dreams about. The one thing every player wants, and this guy says nay? Wow, I’m impressed. Also, if there’s any player that deserves the Ballon d’Or (apart from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi), it is Gareth Bale. I mean, the dude was once the world’s most expensive player. He has more than lived up to that price tag over the years- two Champions League medals ain’t no joke, folks.
- Mathieu Valbuena is in the news again! This time, however, it’s not a sex tape. Dudes on Twitter are claiming that the France international is dead. This spread so wide that Olympique Lyonnais has issued a statement debunking those tweets. It’s so shameful, how low some people will stoop to get a retweet. I’m disappointed on behalf of Mathieu Valbuena. But come to think of it, this is. . . no, it’s not funny at all.
